01
Understanding Kinesiology
Get to know the approach and what it means in practice.
What kind of Kinesiology do you offer?
I offer specialised Kinesiology as a complementary approach to wellbeing. Gentle muscle monitoring, conversation and balancing techniques give us different ways to explore what feels stressful and what you would like to experience differently.
The word Kinesiology also means the scientific study of human movement. Here, I am describing my energetic and reflective practice, with a particular emphasis on Emotions & Metaphysical Kinesiology™ (EMK).
What is Emotions & Metaphysical Kinesiology, and what is distinctive about it?
Emotions & Metaphysical Kinesiology was developed by Denise Robinson and gives particular attention to emotions, personal meaning and our experience of connection. It draws on traditional energy frameworks, including the Five Elements, meridians, chakras and aura.
Its receptive, yin approach fits the way I like to work: listening closely, allowing time and staying curious about the person in front of me. I combine this with my wider Kinesiology experience and choose the approach with you.
What might bring me to a Kinesiology session?
You might be carrying everyday stress, finding it hard to switch off, moving through a loss or life change, or noticing a familiar pattern in your relationships or self-confidence. You may simply want time to reconnect with yourself and consider what matters now.
We can explore these experiences with the aim of supporting awareness, a sense of steadiness and more choice in how you respond. There is no need to arrive with everything worked out. The support and benefits page offers more examples.
How do you use muscle testing?
In person, I may ask you to hold an arm in a comfortable position while I apply gentle pressure. We notice whether the muscle maintains its position or changes its response. This is often called muscle monitoring or muscle reflex testing.
Within specialised Kinesiology, I interpret these changes as indications of stress or balance around the theme or input being explored. They help guide the session, alongside our conversation and your feedback. You are not being asked to prove your strength or give a particular response.
Can muscle testing diagnose illness, allergies or a nutritional deficiency?
No. Muscle responses do not establish a medical diagnosis, confirm an allergy or measure nutrient levels. In my work, an input may change a response interpreted as stress into a more balanced indicator response during the test.
If vitamin D comes up, for example, this does not necessarily mean you lack vitamin D. It suggests a potential benefit within that testing situation, which we consider in context. Whether a supplement is suitable also depends on your health, medicines and appropriate clinical advice or tests. Suspected allergies need assessment by a qualified healthcare professional.
What do you mean by energy, metaphysical connections and a whole-person approach?
For me, a person is a living relationship between body, soul and spirit, shaped by everyday life, relationships and experience. Emotions & Metaphysical Kinesiology offers traditional and symbolic ways to reflect on these connections.
A meridian, element or chakra theme may give us a useful starting point for conversation. I treat these as frameworks for exploration, with room for your own beliefs and meaning. They are not measurements of organ function or established medical explanations.
What does scientific research tell us about specialised Kinesiology?
Kinesiology brings together gentle muscle monitoring, conversation and individually selected techniques in a personal approach to wellbeing. Research into specialised Kinesiology has reported encouraging changes in patient-reported symptoms and everyday functioning. A practice study involving 28 patients recorded improvements in personally important symptoms, activities and wellbeing, while a small randomized pilot trial found greater improvement in back-related disability with Professional Kinesiology Practice than with a comparison treatment. These findings support further exploration of Kinesiology’s potential as a complementary approach, with more research needed to establish its effects on particular conditions.
Participants in qualitative research on Touch for Health-based Kinesiology have also described greater self-awareness, improved wellbeing and new ways to manage stress and care for themselves. They valued an approach that brought bodily and emotional experience together—changes that can have personal significance in everyday life.
In my practice, I adapt each session to your needs and possibilities, offering a supportive space to explore your experiences and take an active part in your own wellbeing. Your concerns, preferences and goals guide our work. Alongside appropriate healthcare, we review together how the sessions are supporting you and what feels helpful in your daily life.
02
Your session
A shared process, shaped around what matters to you.
What happens in a session, and why is it called a balance?
We begin by sitting together and talking about what brings you here, relevant health information and what you hope to take from our time. We choose an intention, then move into gentle muscle monitoring and the techniques we have agreed to explore.
In Emotions & Metaphysical Kinesiology, a session is often called a balance. We return to the original theme towards the end, notice your experience and discuss any useful next steps. There is time for questions throughout.
What if I have several concerns, or cannot put my goal into words?
We can begin with something simple: a situation that feels difficult, a feeling you keep returning to, or a wish to feel more settled. You do not need a polished explanation.
If there are several concerns, we talk about what feels most important and choose a manageable focus. Your intention might be as ordinary as making more room for rest or feeling clearer about a decision. We can adjust it as our understanding grows.
Which techniques and remedies might you use?
Depending on our focus, a session may include gentle acupressure or holding points, tapping, movement, sound, colour, affirmations, flower essences or other Emotions & Metaphysical Kinesiology tools. The Five Elements, meridians, chakras and aura provide different frameworks within the work.
I explain what I suggest and check that you are comfortable with it. We choose what is relevant, rather than trying to include every technique. You are welcome to decline a remedy or ask for a different approach.
Does exploring emotions mean that my symptoms are all emotional?
No. Your physical experience deserves to be taken seriously. We can be curious about how stress, feelings and circumstances affect you without assuming that every symptom has an emotional cause or that you have caused an illness.
A phrase such as “carrying too much” may help you reflect on responsibilities if it resonates with you. It does not explain a medical condition. I listen to your meaning rather than assigning a fixed interpretation to your body.
Do I have to talk about painful experiences in detail?
You choose what you share. We can work with how something feels in your life now without asking you to retell every detail. If an emotion becomes too much, we can pause, change the focus or stop.
Muscle testing is not a way to prove that a past event happened or recover reliable hidden memories. I respect what you know about your own life. If you need support with trauma or a mental health condition, an appropriately qualified professional remains an important part of your care.
Do I need to believe in energy work or be spiritual?
You are welcome to be curious, uncertain or sceptical. You do not need to share my beliefs or use spiritual language. We can speak in terms that feel natural to you and stay with what you notice in your own experience.
Please tell me if a particular idea or practice does not fit your beliefs. Your questions and boundaries help us find a way of working that feels respectful.
03
Comfort & care
Your choices, boundaries and wider support remain important.
Is a session gentle, and should muscle testing hurt?
The work is intended to be gentle. Muscle monitoring uses light pressure, and I ask about injuries, discomfort and limitations before we begin. Please tell me immediately if a movement or touch feels uncomfortable so I can adapt it or stop.
You stay involved and can change your mind at any point. We do not need to push through pain or a strong emotional response to make the session worthwhile.
Can I come while receiving medical care, counselling or another therapy?
We can discuss Kinesiology as additional wellbeing support alongside your existing care. Please tell me about relevant conditions, treatments, medicines and supplements so we can consider what is appropriate.
I do not diagnose medical conditions, prescribe medicines or advise you to stop prescribed treatment. Decisions about medication belong with your prescriber. Where a concern needs medical or psychological expertise, I encourage you to seek that support.
Should I speak with you first if I am pregnant or have a health condition?
Yes, please contact me before booking so we can talk about your situation and any adaptations or limits. This is especially useful with pregnancy, recent surgery, significant pain, a serious condition or anything that makes touch or movement difficult.
Some situations are outside the scope of my work. If there are new or unexplained symptoms, or concerns about pregnancy, seek advice from your healthcare professional rather than waiting for a Kinesiology appointment.
Do you welcome children and teenagers?
Yes. I welcome adults and children aged eight and over. Please contact me before booking for a young person so we can talk about their needs and make suitable arrangements.
The Swedish Patient Safety Act restricts examination and treatment of children under eight by practitioners outside healthcare. In keeping with this, I do not offer Kinesiology sessions for children under eight.
I adapt the conversation and pace to the young person, make room for their questions and respect their willingness to take part.
Do young people need parental consent or a guardian present?
For anyone under 18, my practice requires consent from a parent who is a legal guardian, or another legal guardian, before the appointment. Please arrange this with me in advance.
For anyone under 16, a legal guardian must be present in the room throughout the session, including an online appointment. Young people aged 16–17 may attend without their guardian in the room once consent has been arranged.
These are my practice arrangements for young clients. Alongside the guardian’s consent, I listen to the young person’s own wishes and comfort; they can ask questions, pause or stop.
Is what I share private, and may I bring someone with me?
I treat what you share with care and confidentiality, within applicable legal requirements. I do not discuss one client’s session with another, including relatives or partners.
You are welcome to have a trusted person or chaperone present. Please let me know beforehand so we can arrange this comfortably and agree how they will be involved. Your own voice and choices remain central.
04
Preparing for your visit
A few practical details to help you feel at ease.
What should I wear or bring?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows your arms and legs to move easily. Kinesiology sessions are carried out with you clothed, usually resting on a treatment table. You may be asked to remove your shoes.
Bring your questions and details of relevant medication, supplements or health changes. If I send you an intake form, complete it beforehand if possible. Eat and drink as you normally would; no fasting or special preparation is needed.
What if I cannot lie comfortably on a treatment table?
Please tell me before your visit. We can discuss positioning, seated work, shorter periods in one position and pauses. You do not need to hold yourself in a painful position.
If you have mobility or access needs, contact me so we can check the practical arrangements at the clinic together before you book.
Can the session be adapted for sensitivities to scents or touch?
Yes, please let me know about allergies, sensitivities or preferences beforehand. We can agree to avoid scented products or particular forms of touch and choose other ways to work.
I check before introducing a remedy. There is no need to use an oil, spray or essence simply because it is available.
What is different about an online session?
We meet by video, beginning with the same kind of conversation about your experience and intention. Online Emotions & Metaphysical Kinesiology can include guided reflection and practices you can follow at home, together with surrogate testing, where I monitor my own muscle response within the Emotions & Metaphysical Kinesiology energetic framework.
Surrogate testing is an energetic practice, not a medically validated way of assessing you at a distance. I explain the process so you can decide whether it suits you. A quiet, private space, a stable connection and a comfortable place to sit are helpful.
05
After your session
Time to notice, reflect and decide what comes next.
How might I feel afterwards?
People describe different experiences. You may feel settled, thoughtful, more aware of an emotion or simply ready for some quiet time. You may also notice little immediate change. There is no particular feeling you are expected to have.
Give yourself room to rest if you need it and notice how you are over the following days. Please contact me with questions. New, persistent or worsening symptoms need appropriate healthcare advice; they should not be assumed to be a detox or healing reaction.
How many sessions do you usually recommend, and how far apart?
I usually suggest beginning with three sessions. This gives us time for an initial balance, space to notice what happens in everyday life, and follow-ups to review your experience and build on what feels useful.
We agree the spacing together, taking account of your needs, energy, circumstances and budget. Three sessions are a starting recommendation, not a promise of a particular result. We review the plan with you as we go.
What if I do not notice a change?
Please tell me. Your honest feedback helps us consider whether the focus, pace or approach is useful for you. We can look at the everyday changes you hoped for and decide whether to adjust our work or consider another kind of support.
You have not failed if a session does not help. I do not want you to feel that you must keep booking to prove your commitment.
Will I have anything to practise at home?
We may agree on a small practice that fits your life, such as a gentle movement, a moment of reflection, an affirmation in your own words or a change to an everyday routine. I explain it so you feel comfortable trying it.
The aim is to support your own awareness and confidence between sessions. We keep it manageable, and you can tell me what feels useful or difficult when we next meet.
Do I need to continue with regular sessions afterwards?
We review that together. Some people choose occasional sessions when a new theme arises; others value a period of more regular support. There is no single schedule that suits everyone.
My hope is that our work helps you feel more able to notice your needs and make your own choices. You are free to pause or finish when that feels right for you.

Booking & practical details
Clear information for planning your appointment.
Are individual appointments currently available?
Individual appointments are currently paused, with reopening planned for 2027. The booking page shows future availability. If you cannot find a suitable time, you are welcome to contact me.
How long is a session, and what does it cost?
An initial Kinesiology session is 90 minutes and costs 1,500 kr. A follow-up is 75 minutes and costs 1,200 kr. These fees are in Swedish kronor and match the appointments and prices shown on the Kinesiology & Emotions & Metaphysical Kinesiology page.
The longer first meeting gives us time to get to know each other, discuss relevant background and begin the practical work.
Where do we meet?
In-person sessions take place at Heart of Mervin, Söbben 124, 473 91 Henån, on Orust, Sweden. Kinesiology appointments are also offered online; choose your preferred format when checking availability.
For a clinic visit, aim to arrive about ten minutes before your appointment, with time to settle. If you need directions or would like to check access, please contact me beforehand.
How do I choose and book the right appointment?
Choose Kinesiology on the booking page, then the Kinesiology & Emotions & Metaphysical Kinesiology service and your preferred format. Choose an initial session for your first Kinesiology appointment with me, or a follow-up when continuing our work.
If you are unsure where to begin, a free 15-minute enquiry call via Zoom gives us time to talk about what you are looking for. You can check availability under Enquiry on the booking page.
Should I choose Kinesiology & Emotions & Metaphysical Kinesiology or Nutrition & Herbal Check-Up?
Kinesiology & Emotions & Metaphysical Kinesiology offers a broader exploration of emotional themes, everyday stress and personal wellbeing. If your main question is about nutrition, supplements or herbs, the Nutrition & Herbal Check-Up is a more focused, in-person consultation using several approaches, including the Lebowitz Method.
If a product is suggested, we discuss its suitability and any separate cost before you decide. A response during muscle testing is one part of that conversation, rather than proof that you need to buy or take something.
How can I pay?
For clinic appointments, payment is made after the session by Swish or cash. Invoices can be arranged for returning clients. International online appointments are paid by bank transfer, with the arrangements confirmed before we meet.
If you have a payment question, please ask before your appointment so everything is clear.
What if I need to cancel, change my appointment or am unwell?
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel, reschedule or change your booking. Changes with less notice and missed appointments are charged at the full session fee, in line with my Terms of Service. Any deposit is non-refundable under those terms.
If you develop an infectious illness, contact me before coming to the clinic so we can discuss the arrangements. Letting me know as early as possible helps me plan the day and offer the time to someone else.
Is there something you would like to ask me?
A conversation can help you decide whether this feels like a suitable next step. You are welcome to get in touch, ask a practical question or tell me what you are hoping for.
