A welcoming space to pause, feel heard and explore what feels out of balance. My work with Emotions & Metaphysical Kinesiology™ (EMK) offers a gentle, personal approach to emotional wellbeing.

UNDERSTANDING Kinesiology

What is Kinesiology, and how do I work with it?

Kinesiology means the study of movement. The word is also used for a complementary wellbeing approach that brings together gentle muscle testing, conversation and balancing techniques. This is the kind of Kinesiology I offer, with an emphasis on Emotions & Metaphysical Kinesiology™ (EMK).

For me, the starting point is you as a whole person. We explore the connections you notice between your body, emotions, thoughts and everyday life. How are you feeling in yourself, and what would you like more space for?

How gentle muscle testing is used

During an in-person session, I may ask you to hold your arm in a comfortable position while I apply light pressure and observe its response. This is called muscle monitoring or muscle reflex testing. We are noticing changes in the response, rather than measuring how strong you are.

Within Emotions & Metaphysical Kinesiology, these responses help guide which emotional themes and balancing techniques we explore. I bring them into our conversation and ask what feels relevant to you. Your own understanding of your experience remains central.

Muscle testing is not a medical diagnostic test, and claims that it can read the subconscious or identify hidden causes of illness are not scientifically established. Kinesiology is complementary wellbeing work and does not replace healthcare assessment or treatment.

The heart of the Emotions & Metaphysical Kinesiology approach

Emotions & Metaphysical Kinesiology was developed by Denise Robinson. It gives particular attention to emotions, personal meaning and the energetic traditions of the Five Elements, meridians and chakras. In this context, “metaphysical” means exploring the meaning and connections we may experience beyond the purely physical. These are traditional and reflective ways of understanding wellbeing, rather than established medical explanations.

Emotions & Metaphysical Kinesiology is often described as heart-centred and yin-focused: a quiet, receptive way of working that makes room for the individual. I stay curious about what a theme means to you, allowing your own words and associations to guide our understanding.

What happens in a session?

We begin with a conversation about what brings you here and what you would like to experience differently. Together, we choose an intention for the session, perhaps feeling more settled in a situation or finding a different way to respond. In Emotions & Metaphysical Kinesiology, this session is often called a balance.

From there, we move into the practical work. Alongside gentle muscle testing, this may include acupressure, tapping, flower essences, sound or reflective exercises. I explain each step and we choose what feels comfortable for you.

Towards the end, we take time to reflect on what stood out and any small, manageable steps you would like to carry into everyday life. A follow-up gives us space to hear how you have been and decide together what to focus on next.

Your experience comes first

You may come with everyday stress, recurring emotional patterns, a life transition or a wish for more rest and connection with yourself. You do not need to arrive with a clear explanation of everything. We can begin with what you are noticing now.

You are welcome to ask questions, pause or choose not to explore a particular subject or technique. There is room to go slowly. Each person’s experience is different, and we will be guided by what feels useful and supportive to you.
