Nature, Meditation & Art

A day in nature to observe, create, meditate, and make flower essences together.

I invite you to join me for a small seasonal workshop on Orust, bringing together practical essence-making, meditation, and artistic exploration.

A different encounter each season

We begin at my clinic and walk into the nearby landscape. Our meeting place with nature may be in the garden, in the forest, or by the sea. Before each gathering, I choose the plants and preparation methods in response to the season, weather, and what calls for attention. You will discover the day’s choices when we meet.

Beginners and returning participants are equally welcome. No previous experience of meditation, art, or essence-making is needed.

Meeting the plants

We take time to explore two plants or natural sources, meeting each one with curiosity and attention.

We begin by observing and experiencing what is before us. I introduce relevant botanical features, and we explore through a creative and meditative process. After forming an attentive inner picture, we let it go and rest in silence, allowing space to notice whatever arises.

Each guided plant exploration lasts approximately 40–45 minutes. There is no particular experience you need to have, and sharing is always optional.

The artistic activities vary according to the day, the plants, and the group. We may use drawing, writing, watercolour, gentle Eurythmy movement, or a combination of these. Participants’ own observations come first; traditional interpretations can be discussed afterwards.

Something new to learn at every workshop

Each workshop offers a different theoretical focus and practical experience of essence-making. We explore topics such as preparation traditions, choosing plants and natural sources, preservation, dilution, and the stages from mother tincture to stock and dosage bottles.

The practical teaching also varies with the season, conditions, and chosen plants or natural sources, allowing you to experience different methods across the workshops. Each day stands on its own and welcomes beginners, while returning participants can gradually deepen their understanding and practical skills.

Flower essence making together

After exploring the first plant, we begin its essence preparation together. We then meet the second plant and begin its preparation before our lunch break.

On a suitable sunny day, we may use a sun preparation. In other conditions, I choose an appropriate alternative, such as a boiling method or an environmental essence connected with the seashore. The exact process depends on the chosen source and the conditions that day.

Together, we complete two mother tinctures, preserved with organic brandy. From these shared preparations, we make the stock bottles you take home.

Make together, continue at home

You receive two separate 10 ml stock bottles—one of each essence we make together.

  • Mother tincture: the original preserved essence preparation we make as a group.
  • Stock bottle: a dilution made from the mother tincture, which you take home.
  • Dosage bottle: a further dilution prepared from a few drops of stock essence for personal use.

Each 10 ml stock bottle is typically enough to prepare 25–30 or more dosage bottles, depending on the dilution method and drop size. I explain how to prepare, label, and store these bottles so you can continue at home.

You also take home your artwork, notes, and a simple observation practice to continue exploring nature in your own time.

The rhythm of the day

We meet at 09:00 at the clinic. After a welcome and introduction, we walk to the chosen location, usually 15–30 minutes each way.

  • Morning: meet the two plants through observation, creative exploration, and meditation, beginning each essence after its exploration.
  • 11:30–12:30: a relaxed packed-lunch break, outdoors when conditions allow.
  • Afternoon: further artistic work, reflection, questions, and completing the mother tinctures.
  • Return to the clinic: prepare individual stock bottles and close the day together at 16:00.

Most of the day is spent outdoors. The timetable adapts to the location and preparation methods, while keeping space for practical learning and an unhurried encounter with nature.
