Flower Essence Consultation FAQs

Space to ask, understand and find your own starting point.

You may be completely new to flower essences, or wondering how a personal consultation differs from choosing a bottle yourself. Here I answer questions about our time together, your blend and the practical details, so you can decide what feels right for you.

I usually suggest three consultations, around three to four weeks apart, with the spacing agreed together. One bottle of your personal blend is included at each meeting.

Understanding your flower essence consultation

A gentle introduction to the preparations and the way I work.

What are flower essences?

Flower essences are diluted, water-based preparations traditionally chosen in relation to emotional qualities and personal wellbeing. The best-known example is the system of 38 Bach flower remedies; other traditions work with flowers from different parts of the world.

For me, they belong within a thoughtful conversation about your life. We give attention to what feels unsettled and to qualities you would like to nurture, such as courage, steadiness or a kinder relationship with yourself.

Are flower essences the same as essential oils or herbal remedies?

No. Essential oils contain aromatic plant compounds, while herbal preparations use plant constituents for their physical effects. Flower essences are prepared and diluted differently, and are chosen around emotional themes rather than for a medicinal dose of plant ingredients.

The products are not interchangeable. In particular, an essential oil should never be taken as though it were a flower essence. We go through the instructions for your own blend together.

What does “vibrational” or “energetic” mean in this work?

In flower essence traditions, a flower is understood to express particular qualities that may be reflected in our emotional life. Practitioners often describe the essence as carrying an energetic or vibrational impression of those qualities.

This is the philosophy of the practice, rather than an established scientific mechanism. I use it as a way to explore meaning with you, with room for your own understanding and experience.

What might bring me to a flower essence consultation?

You may be navigating a change, finding it difficult to say no, carrying everyday worries or noticing a familiar response in relationships. Sometimes the wish is simply to pause and listen to yourself with a little more care.

We can explore what matters now and choose a manageable focus. You do not need to know the names of the flowers or arrive with a clear explanation. The support and benefits page offers more examples.

What does scientific research tell us about flower essences?

Flower Essence Therapy offers an individual approach to emotional wellbeing, with essences selected around your experiences, needs and goals. Some small clinical studies have reported encouraging improvements in anxiety and sleep, including benefits compared with placebo in particular trials. These findings invite further exploration, while results across studies remain mixed and larger independent studies are needed.

Participants in flower-therapy research have also described greater calm, increased self-awareness and changes in how they relate to everyday challenges. Practice-based research has recorded improvements in emotional outlook. These accounts help us understand what people may find valuable in the therapeutic process, although they do not establish the specific contribution of the essences.

In my practice, your experience and goals guide our work. We explore what is present for you, select essences individually and review together what feels helpful in your daily life. I offer this work as a complementary approach to wellbeing, alongside appropriate healthcare.

02

Your consultation

A conversation in which your own experience stays central.

What happens in a first consultation?

We begin with what brings you here, how you have been feeling and what you would like to explore. There is time to talk about everyday circumstances and any relevant health or ingredient concerns.

Together, we choose a focus. I explain the essences I suggest and invite your response before preparing your personal blend. We finish by going through how to use and store it, and agreeing a suitable next appointment.

How do you choose my essences, and where does Kinesiology fit?

I bring together listening, reflection, my knowledge of the essences and gentle Kinesiology muscle monitoring. In person, this may involve light pressure on an arm held in a comfortable position. You remain fully clothed and involved throughout.

Within specialised Kinesiology, I interpret changes in the muscle response as indications of stress or balance around what we are exploring. They are a guide within the session, not proof of a diagnosis or a way to overrule what you know about yourself. We consider any selection alongside your words and experience.

How is this different from a full Kinesiology session?

A Flower Essence Consultation centres on a conversation and the selection of your personal essence blend. A Kinesiology session allows more time for a wider range of balancing techniques and ways of exploring your chosen theme.

If you are unsure which would suit you, we can talk about what you are hoping for. You do not have to choose a method before asking for guidance.

Do I need to talk about painful experiences or believe in the essences?

You choose what you share. We can stay with how life feels now without revisiting every detail of a difficult experience. You can ask to pause, change the focus or stop at any point.

You do not need to adopt a belief system or find the right words. Curiosity, uncertainty and questions are all welcome. I want our conversation to feel respectful and understandable to you.

Why have a consultation rather than choose a bottle myself?

It can be helpful to have someone listen without rushing, reflect back what they hear and help you sort through several overlapping themes. We can explore which qualities feel most relevant, rather than trying to address everything at once.

The blend is part of that shared process. My aim is that you understand why we have chosen it and feel more confident recognising your own needs.

03

Your three sessions & daily use

Time to begin, notice your experience and review it together.

How many consultations do you recommend, and how far apart?

I usually recommend a sequence of three consultations, around three to four weeks apart. We agree the spacing together and adjust it to your circumstances.

This gives us time to begin with a clear focus, hear what you notice in everyday life and review whether to keep or change the blend. It is a starting recommendation, rather than a promise of a particular result.

What happens at a follow-up?

We hear how you have been since our last meeting and return to the theme we chose. Perhaps something feels clearer, a new situation has arisen, or you have not noticed much at all. Each of these is useful to talk about.

We decide together whether the same essences still fit or whether a different blend would be more appropriate. One bottle of your personal blend is included in every follow-up, just as it is in the initial consultation.

How do I use my personal blend at home?

I give you guidance for your particular bottle, including how much to use, how often and how to store it. Follow those instructions rather than a general dose you have seen for a different product.

You might connect it with a quiet moment in your day: pause, remember the quality you are exploring and notice how you are feeling. If the routine is difficult to follow, tell me so we can make it manageable.

How quickly should I notice something, and what if nothing changes?

There is no fixed experience you should have. Some people describe a subtle change in how they respond to everyday situations; others notice little or no difference. I do not want you to feel that you must produce a positive report.

A few notes about your chosen theme can help us reflect, but there is no need to monitor yourself constantly. At our follow-up, we look honestly at what has and has not been useful and consider whether to adjust, pause or seek another kind of support.

What if I feel worse or have an unwanted reaction?

Please stop using the blend and let me know if you think it is causing a problem. New or worsening symptoms should not be dismissed as a “healing crisis” or taken as proof that the essences are working.

Ingredients, including preservatives, can matter. Seek appropriate healthcare advice for symptoms or concerns, and urgent care for a serious reaction. We can review the blend and our next steps once your immediate needs have been addressed.

Do I need to continue after the three consultations?

At the third meeting, we look back together. You may feel ready to pause, continue with a familiar routine or arrange an occasional review. Further appointments are something we discuss if there is a clear reason for them.

There is no expectation of an ongoing course. I want you to leave with a clearer understanding of your experience and the choices available to you.

04

Your blend & alcohol

What is in the bottle, and how we make it suitable for you.

What is the difference between a mother tincture, a stock bottle and my personal blend?

These names describe different stages of preparation. In the traditional method, flower water is preserved to make the mother tincture, sometimes called the mother essence. Small amounts are then diluted to prepare stock essences.

Your personal bottle is prepared from drops of the selected stock essences in water, with a preservative. It may contain one essence or a combination of up to seven, chosen around the focus of our consultation.

Why do the mother tincture and stock bottles contain alcohol?

Alcohol is used as a preservative in the mother tinctures and stock bottles used to prepare my blends. Its role is to help preserve the liquid; it is not the reason an essence is selected for you.

Only small amounts of stock essence go into your personal mixture. Even so, please tell me if you need or prefer to avoid alcohol so we can look carefully at the ingredients and your options.

Can my personal blend be made with apple cider vinegar?

Yes. Apple cider vinegar is available on request as the preservative added to your personal mixture, instead of adding alcohol at that stage. Please mention your preference when we arrange the consultation.

Small traces of alcohol can still remain from the mother tincture and stock drops. A vinegar-based mixture should therefore not automatically be described as completely alcohol-free. If you need strict alcohol avoidance, please speak with me before we prepare a bottle so we can check whether a suitable option is available. Where this relates to a medicine or health condition, ask your pharmacist or healthcare professional too.

Does each consultation include a bottle, and can several essences be combined?

Yes. One bottle of your personalised blend is included in both the initial consultation and each follow-up. The blend may contain one essence or up to seven, depending on the themes we agree to explore.

More essences do not automatically make a better blend. I prefer a selection that has a clear purpose and that we can discuss meaningfully together.

How should I store my blend, and how long will it keep?

Follow the storage instructions and use-by date supplied with your own bottle. Its keeping time depends on how it has been prepared, including the preservative, so a personal mixture should not be assumed to last as long as a stock bottle.

Keep the dropper clean and avoid touching it to your mouth or skin. If the bottle becomes contaminated or its appearance or smell changes, do not continue using it; contact me about a replacement or suitable next step.

05

Comfort, care & young people

Clear boundaries, with time for questions and individual needs.

Can flower essences be used alongside medicines or other therapies?

Please tell me about medicines, supplements and other support you use. The ingredients of the actual preparation need to be considered, especially alcohol and any sensitivities. Your pharmacist or healthcare professional can advise on compatibility with medicines.

This consultation is complementary wellbeing support. It does not replace medical assessment, counselling or prescribed treatment, and I will not ask you to stop or reduce medication.

What if I am pregnant, breastfeeding or have allergies or a health condition?

Please contact me before booking so we can discuss whether the consultation is suitable and check the preparation carefully. “Natural” does not mean that every ingredient is suitable for everyone.

Your doctor, midwife or pharmacist can advise on ingredients where relevant. There are health circumstances outside the scope of my practice, and I will be clear with you if another professional is the appropriate person to help.

Do you welcome children and teenagers, including children under eight?

I welcome adults and children aged eight and over. Please contact me before booking for a young person so we can discuss their needs and make suitable arrangements.

The Swedish Patient Safety Act restricts examination and treatment of children under eight by practitioners outside healthcare. In keeping with this, I do not offer Flower Essence Consultations for children under eight.

For older children and teenagers, I adapt the language and pace, check ingredient suitability and make room for the young person’s own wishes and questions.

Do young people need parental consent or a guardian present?

For anyone under 18, my practice requires consent from a parent who is a legal guardian, or another legal guardian, before the appointment. Please arrange this with me in advance.

For anyone under 16, a legal guardian must be present in the room throughout the consultation, including an online appointment. Young people aged 16–17 may attend without their guardian in the room once consent has been arranged.

These are my practice arrangements for young clients. Alongside guardian consent, I listen to the young person’s own comfort and willingness to take part; they can ask questions, pause or stop.

Is what I share private, and may I bring someone with me?

I treat your information with care and confidentiality, within applicable legal requirements. A trusted person can accompany you if that helps you feel at ease; please let me know beforehand.

With a young client, we talk about how their guardian is involved in a way they can understand. The consultation remains a place where their voice and boundaries matter.

Booking & practical details

The details that help you plan your visit.

Are consultations available now, and how do I book?

Individual appointments are currently paused, with reopening planned for 2027. Future availability is shown on the booking page. Choose an initial Flower Essence Consultation for our first meeting, or a follow-up when we are continuing.

If you would like to talk first, you can check availability for a free 15-minute enquiry call via Zoom. Please contact me directly before booking for a child or teenager.

How long are consultations, and what do they cost?

An initial consultation is 45 minutes and costs 850 kr. A follow-up is 30 minutes and costs 550 kr. Prices are in Swedish kronor, and each consultation includes one bottle of your personal blend.

Our first meeting gives us more time to get to know each other and find a starting point. Delivery arrangements for an online consultation are agreed separately before we meet.

Can we meet online?

Yes. Flower Essence Consultations are available in person or online. Online, we make space for the same thoughtful conversation about your experience and the themes you would like to explore.

For the call, choose a quiet, private place with a reliable connection. A legal guardian must be in the room if the client is under 16. We agree the practical arrangements before we meet.

Can you send my bottle after an online consultation?

Yes. I can send your personal blend within Europe, for an additional postage cost. The bottle itself is included in your consultation; delivery is extra. Please contact me beforehand so we can confirm the postage cost and arrangements.

I do not send bottles outside Europe. If you live elsewhere, I would usually recommend considering an online Emotions & Metaphysical Kinesiology session or online Eurythmy Therapy instead. We can talk about which approach feels most suitable for you.

Where do in-person consultations take place, and should I prepare anything?

I welcome you at Heart of Mervin, Söbben 124, 473 91 Henån, on Orust, Sweden. Aim to arrive about ten minutes early so you have time to settle. Please ask beforehand if you would like directions or need to check access arrangements.

Wear something comfortable and bring any questions, details of medicines or sensitivities, and any essences you already use. You are welcome to make a few notes about what brings you, but there is no homework required before we meet.

How do payment and cancellations work?

Clinic appointments are paid after the session by Swish or cash. Invoices can be arranged for returning clients. International online appointments are paid by bank transfer, with arrangements confirmed beforehand.

Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel, reschedule or change a booking. With less notice, or for a missed appointment, the full session fee applies. Any deposit is non-refundable under my Terms of Service. If you have an infectious illness, please contact me before coming to the clinic.
